Disclaimer& Limits
Last updated: 29 August 2026
Everything on Upflat is offered for general informational and educational purposes. This page explains the limits of that.
The information and materials on Upflat (accessible at https://upflat.online) are offered for general informational, educational and horticultural purposes only. By using the Site you acknowledge and agree to this Disclaimer. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Site.
#1. General Information Only
All content on the Site — care guides, plant profiles, watering intervals, light measurements, troubleshooting tables and infographics — is provided in good faith. We make reasonable efforts to keep it accurate and current, but we make no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, about the completeness, accuracy, reliability or suitability of any content for your situation. Any reliance you place on it is at your own risk.
#2. Plant Care Advice Is Not Guaranteed
Plants respond to conditions we cannot observe from here. Your light levels, humidity, water chemistry, temperature range, pot, potting mix, local climate and the individual history of the plant all affect the outcome, and two plants of the same species can behave very differently in two rooms of the same house.
The intervals and figures in our guides describe what worked under stated conditions. They are starting points to be adjusted to your home, not instructions with a guaranteed result. We cannot accept responsibility for the health, decline or loss of any plant.
#3. Not Professional Advice
Nothing on the Site constitutes professional advice of any kind — veterinary, medical, legal, financial or otherwise. Botanical identification from a photograph or description is inherently uncertain; if identification matters (for example because of toxicity, allergy or a legal restriction), have the plant identified in person by a qualified professional.
#4. Products, Chemicals and Safety
Where a guide mentions fertilisers, pesticides, biological controls, isopropyl alcohol, horticultural oils or any other product, the manufacturer's label and your local regulations always take precedence over anything written here. Follow the label, use appropriate protective equipment, keep products away from children and animals, and check that a product is approved for indoor use in your country. Some substances that are freely sold in one country are restricted in another.
#5. Plant Legality and Local Restrictions
Rules on importing, buying, growing and disposing of particular plant species vary widely between countries and regions, and some species we describe are classed as invasive or restricted in certain places. We do not attempt to cover local plant law, and it is your responsibility to check the rules that apply where you live before acquiring a plant.
#6. Measurements and Conversions
Light readings, temperatures, pot sizes and watering volumes are given in metric units, with approximate imperial equivalents in some places. Figures such as lux readings were taken with consumer equipment under stated conditions and are indicative rather than laboratory-grade. Round numbers are rounded deliberately; treat them as ranges, not thresholds.
#7. External Links and Sources
Each guide cites external horticultural and scientific sources, and the Site links to third-party websites we do not control. We provide these links because they support the claims we make, but we assume no responsibility for the content, accuracy, policies or availability of any third-party site, and a link is not an endorsement. Third-party pages also change over time, and a source that supported a claim when we cited it may later be revised or removed.
#8. Advertising Disclosure
The Site is supported by advertising, including ads served through Google AdSense. Advertising is kept visually distinct from our editorial content. We do not control, endorse or take responsibility for the products, services or claims made in third-party advertisements, and any dealings you have with an advertiser are solely between you and them. No advertiser has any influence over what our guides recommend. See our Privacy Policy for how advertising cookies and data are handled.
#9. Errors and Omissions
Although we aim for accuracy and cite our sources, the Site may contain errors, inaccuracies or omissions, including in plant names, care figures or toxicity classifications. We correct errors in place and update the review date on the affected guide. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of harmful components. If you spot something wrong, please tell us — see our contact page.
#10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Upflat and its owners, operators and contributors are not liable for any loss or damage — including indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive loss, and including damage to or loss of plants, property or data — arising from your access to, use of, or inability to use the Site or any content, link or advertisement on it. The Site and all content are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. See section 12 of our Terms of Service.
#11. Fair Dealing and Quotation
The Site may quote limited extracts from copyrighted material for the purposes of commentary, criticism, review, research and education, which we believe constitutes fair dealing under United Kingdom law and fair use under 17 U.S.C. § 107 in the United States. If you are a rights holder and believe any such use goes beyond that, please see our DMCA and Copyright Policy.
#12. Changes to This Disclaimer
We may update this Disclaimer to reflect changes to the Site or to applicable law. When we make material changes we will post the revised text here and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Site after that means you accept the update.
